Big In Japan

My twin brother, Joe, and I used to joke that we were going to move to mexico and start a variety show, “¡Los Gemelos Locos!” I was reminded of our plan when my friend showed me a video clip of his brother in a Korean tv commercial.

My friend’s brother is something of a celebrity in Korea. This is significant because he is not Korean, not an actor, and not exactly Tom Cruise. I don’t want to minimize his talents, mostly because he has enough money to have me killed, but…well, take a look for yourself (7.5MB Quicktime = big download).

The “¡Los Gemelos Locos!” variety show isn’t such a stupid idea after all, now is it.

Oh man, awesome. He even has the “Korean” accent. Was that a required mustache?

When I was living in Hawaii, I had Japanese roommates who would watch Japanese variety shows. I didn’t understand a thing but I’ve never laughed so hard.

Yeah, I see that often in Japanese commercials as well. I don’t want to criticize, but it’s obvious the better and good-looking actors don’t act in foreign commercials…

That said, I’d go promoting you for a spot on a japanse commercial. Now, what could I have you do? Sell sushi? Slurp ramen? Recommend the newest hitech toilet?

I think he just said you weren’t attractive or a good actor!
