Sobig

In the past 5 days I have probably received 50 or 60 emails with the Sobig Virus. My primary computer is a Mac, and I also have a Windows 2000 box that is fully patched, sitting behind a firewall, and running an updated anti-virus program. So I haven’t been hurt by this other than being extremely tired of deleting junk from my inbox. However, for a lot of people this has been a serious pain, and cost businesses a lot of money.

So then, a reminder to all you hackers (aka worthless pieces of crap):

Work on your hygiene, or basic social skills. Girls are not impressed by your virus writing!

Also, if you got a virus laden email from this domain (and I know several people did) it was not actually sent from my email address. Hackers (aka worthless pieces of crap) are spoofing my address, and a billion others.

Maybe you could clear up the confusion by identifying the emails infected with viruses by their subject line. (non-sequitor – “viruses” is a clumsy way of pluralizing a computer virus. May I suggest an alternative? Viri)

Instead of defaulting the subject line of emails to “Amishrobot is the greatest!” a more sublime sentence would be appropriate. The strongest language praising Amishrobot would fall short of the adulation it deserves. I have labored to find a succinct, concise and catchy phrase that accurately conveys my emotional response to the content of this humble web log. But the problem of identifying virulent email has settled me on “I LOVE YOU”

I feel your pain — Pam has had appx. 250 sobig virus emails in the last 2 days — which i check online and get to delete by clicking each one…… Causes no damage to our computers, just my carpal tunnel!

And she also has the bounces/undeliverables that she hasn’t sent…

What a waste. I do have one brilliant way to solve this — people should create my own personal internet — then apply to me to include useful info, or I can request/demand useful info be placed on it. It will be very exclusive, it may not benefit you, but hey – it’s me I’m trying to benefit.

Just so you know, you’re my new source of mindless entertainment. I might not go comatose yet! =D

    OH DOCTOR!

By my latest count, as of yesterday afternoon, my work computer has received no fewer than — 521 email messages.

This doesn’t bother me as much as the spam I get from Viagra marketers. As I work in the Pharmaceutical industry, I have the occasion to visit different sites in doing research. Don’t go to Pfizer’s site unless you want 100 emails that ask the question, “Is she satisfied?”

    At least that’s my story.

    WOW!

Here’s an update on my computer. In the time I came on this board and posted my earlier message, I’ve recieved 25 more SOBIG messages.

    WILL THIS MADNESS STOP?!!

Clumsy, but proper. You don’t want to use “viri.”   :)
