I stayed home all day Saturday, and came back to the dorm only an hour ago. (It’s now 10:00, as I write.) The title is true! I was trying to get mom to go on a walk with me, and in my attempt to get her phone away from her (she was shopping for rugs, which she conveyed by yelling “rugs!” in increasingly desperate pitches) she decided her best course of action would be to bite me.
So, I have that going for me. The day was actually very nice—I got her to go on that walk with me—and everyone was having a good time and laughing together. I enjoyed it as much as I can with this singing thread of panic underlying the whole thing: the beauty of having something in Maya repeatedly crashing and buffering, and I can’t do anything about it until Monday.
That poem is still boiling within me. I can’t quite figure out what it wants to say: but I’ve never had one be on the tip of my tongue for so long. Either it’s going to be extremely clunky and long, or it’ll join the ranks of the New Year’s poem with the best ones I’ve ever written.
No tears today, so I’ll take that win!
