A Day Well Spent (?)

Today, I finished unfolding all of the UVs for my lighthouse project. (Aside from the ocean on the horizon that I haven’t gotten around to making yet). It took roughly five hours in one sitting, eight in total. I took a break to take a walk and eat some Trader Joe’s Chicken Tikka Masala, which is very good but not salty enough.

What are UVs? I’ll do my best to explain, but even I don’t get them fully. So:

A UV is the skin wrapped around your 3-dimensional object. It functions the same as those paper crafts where you take paper cut into a T shape and then fold it into a cube, but in reverse. Instead of folding it up to make a cube, you’re cutting the shape to make the T. (Yikes, is this making sense?)

Except I’m working on shapes that are a lot more complicated than cubes: furnaces, wicker baskets, boulders, and tree stumps, to name a few. That means that the UVs are mind-bending and time-consuming.

So, I did that. My reward was getting to snack on my spicy almonds (gift of my wonderful mother, of course) and my “Boo Juice” adult sippy cup which I filled with orange juice. Cool!

I really need to do some dishes tonight, so I might make one of my rare trips to the dishwasher. I’ve avoided using it most of the time just because it’s pretty easy for me to do my own dishes right after I eat. But I’m amassing water bottles in my room, and I don’t want to try and clean out a curly straw at ten pm, so I think this is a fair case.

Goodnight!
