Urban Exploration

There is just something about “going places you’re not supposed to go.”

My twin brother and I once tried to infiltrate the steam tunnels under BYU. It has been done many times, but we didn’t know where they entrances were. We found one possible entrance, but for some reason–I think it was the fact that that particular tunnel was about 200 degrees– we decided not to go in.

I am currently exploring cities all over the world from the 70 degree comfort of my favorite chair in my living room via The Urban Exploration Ring “This ring contains sites focussing on the art of urban exploration: touring storm drains, abandoned buildings, rooftops, transit tunnels, college steam tunnels and other off-limits locations.”

You should point out that we took off in the middle of the night like excited 8 year olds, the only difference being our wives shaking their heads and asking us not to get arrested (most 8 year olds have much more understanding wives).

When I was in High School, I was reading in the Lord of the Rings about the little people wandering the lands, I decided that I was going to wander through the more mountainous and woodsy areas of my neighbourhood. I put on my good garb and I just headed east through peoples’ yards. I stayed stealthy for the most part, avoiding and hiding from the barking dogs that could hear me but not see. I had to run through fields of grass, and trek through mountain creeks. I ended up travelling about 6 miles, when I came to a road and it was pitch black out. I started walking home when a friend spied me walking miles from my home. He was like, “what are you doing?” I was like, “just out walking around.” He started laughing, and I knew that he’d never understand. My good friend started to do it fairly regularly. Man we loved it. I want to start planning these things on full moons.

    Hello,

I´m doing research for an upcoming swedish documentary about Urban Exploration. Beacause of this, I´m very interested in filmed material about urban exploration. I have looked throught the material on your website and I have a few questions. Do you have any filmed material that we could use in a documentary. Any other information you might have could also be very useful and of great help, for example if you have names of people that I could contact.

    Hope to get a response,

    Sincerely,
